HIV Testing
FSFA provides anonymous HIV testing and counseling at our office located in Central Mall, Suite 432, in Fort Smith. Our office is located in the suite above BankCorp South.Testing can be done on a walk-in basis but we do appreciate appointments. Testing is done from 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 2pm Monday through Thursday. We are able to do testing on Fridays but cannot guarantee specific times. It is always a good idea to call ahead to verify that someone is available to do testing if you wish to do it on a walk-in basis - especially on Fridays and Mondays.
The cost for testing is $5 (cash only).
The testing process takes about 10 to 15 minutes and involves a risk-screening prior to testing. Results are usually processed and returned to our office within 2 business days.
Because we do anonymous testing, you may use any name you wish. However, in order for us to accurately track your test results, you must provide us with accurate information regarding your date of birth, sex, race, and county of residence.
You should seriously consider being tested if you have any of the following risk factors or have been sexually active with anyone who has been at risk:
- Male/Male Sex
- IV Drug Use
- Sexual Partner of IV Drug User
- HIV+ Sexual Partner
- Exchange of Drugs or Money for Sex (Male or Female)
- Multiple Sexual Partners
While the test is extremely accurate, it is important to remember that it is only 100% accurate when you have been without risk for at least 3 to 6 months. If you have been at risk within the last 3 to 6 months, you will need to obtain a second test within another 3 to 6 months to ensure that your results are 100% accurate.
You should always feel free to ask any questions during the testing process and we welcome questions by telephone as well.
As part of our efforts to help with HIV/STD prevention, we offer free condoms and personal lubricant.
